The look<\/h2>\n

I make objects that should never have met converse.<\/p>\n

I am an artist who works with discarded objects, transforming them through assemblage. I am interested in discovering what can happen when two objects that have followed different paths meet and begin to form part of the same story.<\/p>\n

Each object retains its shape, its marks and part of its history. I try to uncover the relationships between them and imagine what they might become together.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Objects<\/h2>\n

Everything begins with searching for objects.<\/p>\n

I go in search of materials without knowing exactly what I'll find. I'm drawn to shapes, the marks of time and the story each piece carries. I choose the pieces that catch my eye and begin to imagine what they might become together.<\/p>\n

The selection has an intuitive part and a very deliberate one. I observe, compare, mentally try out different combinations and gradually build a kind of map of possibilities. Some objects wait for a long time until the piece they fit with appears.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Process<\/h2>\n

The time comes to combine the objects. I try, I move them around, and I try again. Some combinations work straight away; others take time. Sometimes I spend days looking for a way to make two pieces fit together that, at first glance, seem very different.<\/p>\n

Intuition plays an important role in this process. A piece catches my eye, I feel it could work and I start looking for a place for it. From there, patience and dedication help me find the relationship between the objects.<\/p>\n

When the jigsaw finally falls into place, the sculpture begins to take shape. The pieces cease to be separate elements and together they convey something new. It is at this moment that I feel the sculpture has found its way.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

No welds<\/h2>\n

Second chances<\/h2>\n

A frying pan never imagined that one day it would be the face of a Mickey.<\/p>\n

I'm keen to give a second chance to the objects that make up my sculptures. Pieces that had been forgotten in a garage or a drawer can end up occupying a place no one had ever imagined.<\/p>\n

This second life of objects also holds personal significance for me. Each transformation carries a little of my way of seeing and understanding the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The surprise<\/h2>\n

I like seeing people's reactions when they discover one of my sculptures and recognise the objects that make it up in an unexpected place.<\/p>\n

First there is surprise, and then curiosity to discover where each piece comes from and how it got there. I like that the sculpture makes you look at everyday objects in a different way.<\/p>\n

When I'm creating, I enjoy this game: trying, combining and discovering what I can do with each object.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While he was studying high school, he was going to draw with Carme Benet, in Borges Blanques. There I woke up to work the mud and, during those years, I also presented myself for free at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts in T\u00e0rrega.<\/p>\n

When I had to decide my studies, I chose Telecommunications Engineering. It is the world to which I still dedicate myself professionally today and which has given me many satisfactions.<\/p>\n

Over time, art continued to be part of my life. Around 2012 I felt the need to do artistic work again. Now I realize that creation had always been present in different areas of my life: in related work, in the construction of furniture, in the transformation of objects and in other activities that I have been developing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Working with clay and wood is, for me, like opening a parenthesis in everyday life and focusing on a path towards an unknown destination. I don't know exactly where I'll end up, and it is precisely this journey that I enjoy.<\/p>\n

The transformation of objects is different. It is more impulsive and less considered. Sometimes it stems from a concept; at other times, from an almost unstoppable need to do what crosses my mind.<\/p>\n

In both cases there is one thing in common: the need to create and discover what might happen while I'm working.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Photography has always been with me. I started in the black-and-white era, when we loaded the film ourselves and developed the photographs. Today we can share an image taken just a moment ago, but the curiosity to observe and create remains the same.<\/p>\n

I have taught myself most of the techniques and skills I have learned, drawing on the advice and knowledge I have also received from those close to me, especially my father.<\/p>\n

Today this curiosity takes shape in my sculptures: objects that I observe, combine and transform until they find a new relationship with one another.<\/p>\n
