Bird 83

A bird made entirely of black spring steel strips, bent and coiled to suggest a body with raised wings. The bands cross and curl without forming a closed shape, leaving the gaps as part of the piece. It rests on a silver-toned lamp base with vegetal relief work. The contrast between the matte black of the steel and the bright metal of the base defines the piece. A light, airy figure, almost a drawing in space.
