Tempo

This piece is born from bringing two brass rings into conversation with two industrial cones hanging inside them, as if they were staring each other down. In the middle, a ball acts as a bridge, marking a pause in the conversation. The whole thing is held up on a recycled drum head, which gives it a solid base and the air of an instrument that could still play.

I like the interplay between the shiny brass and the duller grey of the cones, which adds a point of tension. In the end, that’s what it’s all about: taking pieces apart from their original use and making them find a new meaning.
